A Weekend in the Archipelago

After all of Sweden took the same 4 weeks off as holiday, we felt that 1 week in the UK was not really enough time off. We had a long weekend in the archipelago staying in a small red wooden stuga on Ingmarsö. As you can see, we were right in the woods.
Like many English holidays the weather was mixed - nice when we arrived than 2 rainy days and 1 nice sunny day. Being keen types a spot of rain is not enough to stop us - both rainy days we went out walking in the deserted woods and swam in empty lakes in the rain. We didn't actually swim in this lake, but they were this wild and deserted.
The sunny day was a treat - we rowed across to a neighbouring island called Finnhamn on the båtlufferleden (rowing boats provided by the council which anyone can borrow - see here for more details). Once there we had a superb lunch at the cafe - fried herring on knackebrod with lattöl and then a coffee, sitting outside on the terrace surrounded by trees, water and sunshine. It was exactly the sort of thing they put in tourist brochures for the archipelago.
